The Office of International Affairs (OIA)’s mission is to provide strategic and operational direction to LUMS’ continuing internationalisation. It is responsible for coordinating, developing, and expanding the scope of the university’s global footprint and international initiatives. The Office acts as a liaison between internal and international entities, facilitates international collaboration in line with global standards, and serves as a source of international opportunities, information, and resources.
We are currently managing 50+ exchange partners. The number of our partner universities is growing extensively and rapidly. Through these programmes, students from our partner universities as well as LUMS can study for a semester or the summer at the host institution, sometimes on partially or fully funded scholarships.
Our doors are always open to international students and we promise to do our best to enhance their academic, social, and cultural experiences during their time at LUMS.

As I reflect on my time spent at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) during my exchange program, I am filled with gratitude and joy. The LUMS campus itself is a testament to the university's commitment to providing an excellent learning environment. I found myself drawn to LUMS sports complex and the inviting swimming pool, that became a part of my daily routine. They not only offered a space for physical wellness but also became a hub for socializing and unwinding after intense study sessions. Academically, LUMS exceeded my expectations. The professors at LUMS are a cornerstone of the institution's excellence. Each faculty member brings a wealth of knowledge, both academic and practical, to their teaching. This appealing academic environment fostered a drive to excel, an aspect I will carry with me in my future endeavors. My exchange semester at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Brazil was truly life-changing. The people of Belo Horizonte, the city where I was staying, are incredibly hospitable and kind. Furthermore, I had the chance to travel the beautiful country of Brazil, immerse myself in its rich culture, and befriend some incredibly smart and talented fellow exchange students, all of whom came from different parts of the globe. I visited famous cities like Rio de Janeiro, went to music festivals and beach concerts, explored historical towns in Minas Gerais, and had so many more memorable moments with these amazing people! All this allowed me to practically develop my interpersonal communication and personal management skills in a unique and rewarding manner.
I am deeply thankful to the International Relations Office at UFMG (DRI) and the Office of International Affairs at LUMS (OIA) for their endless help and guidance throughout these past six months. It was undoubtedly an incredible experience that opened my eyes to so many possibilities. Living and studying in this vibrant and culturally-rich country has been an incredible journey of self-discovery and growth.
I took a variety of courses, including Money and Banking, Crime and Criminology, and Development Economics. Moreover, I had the opportunity to explore a new language, French, to a B1 level of proficiency. Navigating a different academic system challenged me to adapt, innovate and collaborate across borders.
Beyond the classroom, I had the chance to travel cross country, explore the culture, food, and cities Malaysia had to offer and befriend friends from all over the globe during classes and travel. The friendships I forged with fellow international students during our many adventures will undoubtedly last a lifetime. “My time here in Graz was truly a whole new chapter of my life, opening so many doors for me. The things I learnt within and outside the classroom were at a whole new level. At first, I knew surprisingly little about other cultures and places. The converse was also true, I was the first Pakistani for most of the people I interacted with. Despite that, we got the opportunity to get to fully know each other. I learnt about the foods, music, cultures of many different places. I used to invite people for dinner and introduce them to Pakistani food. We collectively used to go to German classes for beginners and used to practice it. Also, during Christmas season, we used to visit the beautiful Christmas markets across the city before collecting together to watch the FIFA world cup. Overall, the entire five months were very eventful. Every week was filled with hiking trips, international dinners, social events (basically, parties), and travelling to places within Europe. Towards the end, we became almost inseparable. Now, I have friends from all corners of the world with whom I share these wonderful memories. I am very grateful for OIA and FHJ on giving me this opportunity and would highly recommend this program to anyone who loves meeting new people, trying out new things, and travelling to new places.”
