Spanish Ambassador Visits LUMS to Explore Areas of Mutual Collaboration:

On 20th January 2023, a high-level delegation headed by H.E. Jose Antonio de Ory, Ambassador of Spain to Pakistan, visited LUMS, to discuss avenues of collaboration. He was accompanied by Ms. Inés Mena Gómez de Merodio, Head of Consular Affairs, Embassy of Spain; Mian Jalal Salahuddin, the Honorary Consul of Spain for Punjab and Farah Farouk, Head of Business Development, Jalal Salahuddin Bespoke Events & Creative Services.

 They were welcomed by the leaders of LUMS including Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood, Pro Chancellor; Dr. Arshad Ahmad, Vice Chancellor; Mr. Muhammad Ali Khan, Executive Director, Strategic Initiatives; Dr. Furrukh Khan, Director, Office of International Affairs; Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, Director, Office of Advancement and Dr. Nadhra Shahbaz, Director, Gurmani Centre for Languages and Literature. The Business School Dean was also in attendance.

 His excellency H.E. Jose Antonio de Ory expressed his interest pertaining to the possibility of designing and teaching a course on Spanish language by LUMS which will further improve the cultural and diplomatic ties of Pakistan with Spain. Vice Chancellor of LUMS, Dr. Arshad Ahmad welcomed the suggestions and while speaking on the occasion he talked at length about the well renowned Business schools in Spain and possible collaboration of these Spanish institutions with the school of business at LUMS. This shall mutually benefit both the countries. Moreover, Dr. Arshad Ahmad also put forth the idea of bringing faculty from Spain to LUMS for exchange as they would be in a better position to promote the potential student exchange program to their students. 

The meeting was followed by a tour to the Rausing Executive Development Centre and the National Incubation Centre at LUMS.
