Work Package 1: Erasmus+ Building Internationalisation Training Workshops
The workshops spanned over a period of three weeks, with an introductory session on 1st March and a concluding session on 19th March 2021. These training sessions were a mix of principal and key topics including internationlisation at home, internationalisation abroad, the need for developing internationalisation strategies and identifying independent strategies while successfully implementing them.
These workshops helped LUMS and other selected Higher Education Institutes in the region to be fully equipped with basic fundamental skills while working towards the larger goal of internationalisation. The knowledge provided will in turn further aid in the building of internationalisation strategies and implementing activities in the long run while supporting the institution’s wider aims and objectives.
The workshops were gripping, inclusive and informative. Therefore, with each passing session, our learning as an office and as an institution grew stronger, specially through the SWOT Analysis where we were able to clearly list our institute’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Now that our understanding of internationalisation at home has extensively grown, we have started working on the strategy to make a framework that will not only help in internationalising our institute but also better equip us with the skillset necessary to be truly internationalised.
As a first step, we i.e., the Office of International Affairs at LUMS have already had our initial meeting with the senior management to make an internationalisation strategy that is effective and is all inclusive of the offices at our institute. As an initiative from our office, we have also made a working group of members from 17 essential offices, centres and schools. This is because we intend to form a framework and strategy that involves the institute and caters to everyone’s suggestions since internationalisation is a university wide effort and we want it to actually be one too.
We would also like to thank Frederic and Caroline for their effort in conducting such informative workshops!
The creation of an international strategy at LUMS is underway and we are hoping to, and working towards, implementing the information we gained in the training.
