Sakura Science Program

LUMS

The Sakura Science Program, organized by J.F Oberlin University and funded by the Japan Ministry of Science and Technology, recently concluded with great success. Three dedicated students from the Life Sciences Department at LUMS - Aleena Shahid Toor, Isra Razzak, and Zainab Mudassar - embarked on a transformative journey to Japan from October 1st to 7th. The program's core objective was to expose Pakistani and Vietnamese students to Japan's cutting-edge technological innovations in the realm of Agriculture's 6th Industrialization. Japan, having remarkably risen from the ashes of the 2011 earthquake disaster, offered a compelling example of resilience and progress, with the hope that its lessons could inspire the visiting students to contribute to their own countries' recovery from recent flood disasters. Through farm visits and factory tours, these young scholars gained invaluable hands-on experience, making it an enriching and eye-opening adventure that left a lasting impact.
