OIA Open House on International Exchange Opportunities
On the 27th of January 2023, the OIA held an Open House for LUMS students at the Centre for Internationalisation, as a part of our B International events to promote internationalisation in LUMS. This engaging workshop was designed to deliver 3 distinct takeaways for students, with the first being an explanation of the OIA and its strategic objectives in LUMS. As our alumni body grows increasingly global each year, it is vital that graduating students are aware of how the OIA facilitates international partnerships so that they can refer us to any of their peers in international settings.
The second part of this Open House was the delivery of a presentation on international mobility options available to LUMS students, and to help guide them on how to tackle exchange applications. Thus, we delved into the existing partnerships that LUMS has with 46 universities across the globe and how these partnerships facilitate student exchanges. The students were also informed on the specific policies put into place by the OIA to minimize all possible hinderances to a fruitful international exchange, such as credit recognition, how to prepare for an application and how to select a university for exchange.
The last section of the day was an interactive Q&A session with the students to address all their concerns with regards to how international mobility works, and how best to approach such opportunities. One of our most frequent questions from students is regarding the application process itself and how to stand out, which was a very active part of our discussion. We also received excellent feedback from the students on how the OIA can improve its existing systems and promote an international campus.
We look forward to hosting more events, and open houses, in the near future for students, staff and interested faculty members at the Centre for Internationalisation.
