LUMS signs MoU with Cardiff Metropolitan University
The 4th Consortium meeting of the B-International Project was held from the 30th January until the 1st February, 2023 at Cardiff Metropolitan University. The action-packed agenda of the 3-day meeting included an in-depth discussion on charting the final year of the B-International project, as well as strategic meetings between VC LUMS, Dr. Arshad Ahmad, partner universities in Europe and Pakistan, and members of the consortium. Each work package of the project as well as the future sustainability of the project was discussed.
The meetings kicked off with an address by Professor Cara Aitchison, President and Vice Chancellor of Cardiff Metropolitan University, who welcomed the consortium and highlighted the crucial nature of internationalisation for the growth of Higher Education institutions across the world. From this point on, simultaneous meetings were held as Dr. Arshad Ahmad spoke to leadership from various centres across Cardiff Metropolitan on the work and research being pursued in human-centric design, food sustainability studies and internationalisation strategies at both LUMS and Cardiff Met.
The team from the Office of International Affairs, meanwhile, was engaged in a series of meetings that prioritized individual work packages, such as the development of continuous professional development of staff at higher education institutions, the rollout of a Digital Learning Platform that provides introductory courses on internationalization to staff in universities across Pakistan and the creation of a toolkit for a roadmap for internationalization in the country. Over the next two days this culminated into a final meeting to ascertain the priorities for the upcoming months, included with feedback received from all stakeholders.
LUMS and Cardiff Met also signed an MoU with the intent to collaborate on research, exchange programs for students and staff, and capacity building initiatives.
As the B International project approaches its summation, LUMS will continue to develop the systems, networks and capacity to transform our campus into a truly international space!
