LUMS at the IDP Educational Leadership Summit in Malaysia
The Office of International Affairs (OIA) had the privilege of participating in the IDP Education Leadership Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in November 2025. The summit brought together higher education leaders from across the region to discuss collaboration, student mobility, and future-ready educational strategies.
During the summit, OIA representatives met with several international universities with branch campuses in Malaysia. These engagements included insightful discussions on structured student mobility pathways, short-term academic programmes, and broader collaborative initiatives, all aimed at creating meaningful opportunities for students and faculty.
A particularly exciting aspect of the visit was reconnecting with LUMS alumni, now pursuing their master’s programmes or employed as faculty members at these universities. Their experiences offered valuable insights into transnational education and highlighted the long-term impact of LUMS’ global engagement initiatives.
The summit also featured participants from Pakistan, including representatives from IBA and Aitchison College, who contributed to discussions around internationalisation and student mobility. Several universities expressed interest in exploring formal partnerships, including potential memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and joint programmes. OIA looks forward to taking these conversations forward in the new year and continuing to strengthen collaborations that benefit students, faculty, and the wider academic community.
The IDP Education Leadership Summit reinforced OIA’s commitment to fostering strategic international engagement and building regional partnerships that create meaningful, long-term opportunities for Pakistani students and institutions.
