6TH EDITION SPRING 2025
In our latest newsletter, we are delighted to share that the Office of International Affairs at LUMS has been actively advancing the university’s internationalization efforts. Throughout the year, we have organized a range of events, visits and initiatives to further strengthen the global presence and engagement of LUMS. We invite you to explore some of the key highlights from the events we have hosted this semester.
An insightful information session on Higher Education in Turkey was organized by the Office of International Affairs, aimed at providing students with a deeper understanding of academic and scholarship opportunities in the country. The session was led by Dr. Hafiz Aamir Ali, who shared his experience as a recipient of the Turkish Government Scholarship and guided students through the various benefits and processes involved.
The Office of International Affairs hosted an Open House, guiding students through exciting exchange and summer programs. Led by Ms. Saniya Mansoor and Ms Marwa Ali, the session covered everything from applications to cultural adaptations, ending with a lively Q&A.
The Office of International Affairs and the Career Services Office at LUMS collaboratively hosted an insightful session focusing on postgraduate study opportunities and scholarships in Ireland. The event featured representatives from prominent Irish institutions, providing LUMS students with valuable guidance on academic opportunities, funding options, and career prospects in Ireland’s top universities.
A heartwarming Meet & Greet event was hosted by the OIA, bringing together international students and student society presidents to foster cultural exchange and inclusivity on campus. The gathering served as an opportunity for students from diverse backgrounds to share their experiences, learn from one another, and build lasting connections.
Hamza Ashfaq, a LUMS graduate, has been awarded the prestigious McCall MacBain Scholarship at McGill University. He is one of the only two scholars selected from South Asia this year and will pursue a fully funded MBA in Canada. An online celebration was held with representatives from LUMS and the McCall MacBain team to honor Hamza’s achievement.

The Office of International Affairs in collaboration with the Office of Advancement, conducted a successful outreach initiative in Doha, Qatar in January 2025. Ayesha Fatima, Head of Marketing, Office of Advancement and Zainab Masood, representing the OIA, engaged with students and school leadership across four esteemed institutions: Pakistan International School Qatar, Pak Shama School, Bright Future School, and The Next Generation School.
The OIA welcomed an exchange student, Erikas Oskaras Silinikas, from Narxoz University, Kazakhstan this Spring semester.
My semester at LUMS as an exchange student was truly an unforgettable experience. I spent four months immersed in the vibrant culture of Pakistan, and I was deeply impressed by the warmth and hospitality of the people — it is truly unmatched. The university itself exceeded my expectations, offering excellent facilities and a welcoming, supportive environment that fosters both academic growth and personal development.
I particularly appreciated the diverse and delicious food, the rich cultural traditions, and the inclusive atmosphere that made me feel at home from day one. Studying at LUMS gave me the opportunity not only to learn in a high-quality academic setting but also to experience a unique and enriching culture.
I am grateful for the chance to be part of the LUMS community, and I will always cherish the memories and friendships I made during my time there.
A semester in London had been my dream since I started at LUMS, and I was lucky enough to be nominated by the Office of International Affairs to study at QMUL, a university renowned for its Life Sciences department.
My time in London allowed me to engage with so many wonderful people from around the world (shout-out 🇰🇷🇦🇺), meet faculty so deeply immersed in their subject that they brought dinosaur skulls to class on a daily basis, and even complete training to become a Crisis Counselor Volunteer. London taught me to navigate the Tube, meal-prep, plan and take vacations with my friends (and even made me like matcha)!
I will always be grateful to have been given this opportunity, and I believe it's the break and the challenge that everyone should experience during their time at LUMS.
