OIA

The Office of International Affairs participated in a Roadshow organized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan in collaboration with the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo. The roadshow was an amalgamation of university visits, educational expos and awareness sessions and was held in Kandy and Colombo, Sri Lanka, from May 11th to May 15th, 2024. The purpose of these activities was to raise awareness about the Allama Iqbal Scholarships, which Pakistan has been offering to Sri Lankan students since the scholarship scheme’s inception in 2018. As a result of this collaboration with HEC Pakistan, LUMS has previously recruited and generously funded four Sri Lankan students to study at LUMS’ Suleman Dawood School of Business and Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law.

The educational expo concluded with a grand event in Colombo on May 15th, drawing a large crowd of Sri Lankan students, their parents, and various dignitaries. The High Commissioner of Pakistan, Maj Gen (retd.) Faheem ul Aziz, highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, particularly in the realm of education. LUMS and other leading Pakistani universities set up stalls to showcase their academic offerings to prospective students. The HEC team outlined the objectives of the Educational Expo 2024 and provided details of the scholarship program.
