Work Package 3: Launching an Online Learning Platform
From the 28th till the 30th of November 2022, LUMS hosted a series of in-person events with international partners from the B-International consortium. Representatives from Cardiff Metropolitan University and the University of Salamanca, as well as local partners from NUST, PIFD and COMSATS visited LUMS throughout the 3 days.
The B-International event officially kicked off on the 29th, where our partners were welcomed to LUMS and offered an overview of the steps taken to promote internationalisation on campus. They were then taken for an opportunity to catch up with each other and network over lunch (given how rare in-person meetings had been for the consortium). The rest of the day was spent in preparing for the launch of an online learning platform, which is a part of Work Package 3 under the B-International Project.
The next morning the consortium gathered at the LUMS Centre for Internationalisation for the launch of a digital learning platform designed to empower university officials to promote internationalisation on campuses. After the opening remarks by Dr. Furrukh Khan, a live demonstration of the platform was shown to the participants. This platform ties together the learnings of the consortium over the past 2 years and condenses those lessons into training videos hosted on the website.
Following the successful event, a strategic meeting was convened between the international partners, LUMS management and OIA representatives to reflect on the growth enabled under the B-International Project.
Following the launch, the participants were invited to dine at LUMS and warm themselves by a small bonfire on the REDC lawn. The lively event featured many old friends catching up, as well as LUMS faculty and staff meeting the international partners of OIA for the first time. The launch of this event, as well as the reflection on its progress has yielded some amazing learnings for us, and heralds the next wave of efforts towards internationalising LUMS.
